How Do Boxer Dogs Behave?

Similar to any other dog breed, boxer dogs have their own and distinct behavioral cues that are enough to make you say, “…this is really a boxer dog, after all!” if you are ready for a very energetic, intelligent and big type of dog, then, brace yourself. You have just chosen to raise and keep a boxer dog as a part of the family.

Before you get yourself a boxer puppy, think about the personalities and natural behavior of one. Keep in mind that this breed is a very playful type. As mentioned, they are very energetic and keeping them quiet and still in a corner isn’t most likely going to happen. You will be envy by how this breed of dog is able to get through everyday life without getting weary and tired. That’s just how special boxer dogs are; they let you see the brighter side of life.

Another trait a boxer dog has, especially the young ones is the way they walk in a room and not mind anything that they may trample upon. You might want to think about removing the expensive vases you have in the living room by the time a puppy boxer moves in with you. However, if you have very young children at the moment, you might think about keeping a boxer dog probably in the next couple years.

But because boxers are very keen and playful, they are also great in socializing with other people. Because of their innate way of adapting to people, you can really tell that they want to be around crowds and be happy. Be sure though that you expose them to the proper type of socialization. Let them understand that being around good-natured people is okay. When bad people comes in the way, they can be defensive and since they are intelligent dogs; they can easily differentiate between the good and bad ones.

What you would want to do while a boxer dog is young is to expose him to intensive obedience training. This way, when they grow up eventually, they wont be doing chasing other dogs or cats, they won’t be too stubborn and you don’t get a headache for asking them to do what you want them to do. Consistency is the key and you will need to be with your dog all the way. They need to learn how to deal with you and what you ask of them.
